We have selected some sources covering the topic of this issue. First we have selected a special issue from the Organic Process Research & Development. It is focused on continuous processes and its impact in the fine chemicals and the pharmaceutical industry. Maybe OPRD is not the usual journal for medicinal chemists, but it is worth reading these articles.

The second review, by Steven Ley et al., is a nice introduction into several aspects of flow chemistry, including hardware, supplier and typical reactions that can be done with these systems. Steven Ley is one of the more prominent figures of both supported reagents and flow chemistry.

The next work is a SAFC document focused on how the use of flow chemistry can deliver quickly optimized manufacturing processes. It touches briefly on very basic but critical concepts.
Finally, we recommend a couple of sites from vendors selling flow chemistry equipment. Chemtrix has developed the Labtrix and Plantrix reactors, intended for development of conditions and production respectively, while Uniqsis offers the FlowSyn, an equipment intended for preparative work. In the sites of these two companies you will find papers, technical explanations, application notes and much more. Application notes are specially interesting to see cases where real life chemistry problems have been successfully solved using flow chemistry.
