Carme Pampín obtained her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. She is the co-founder and CEO of GalChimia. Carme will be giving some closing remarks on this first edition of the GalChimia Day.
As the CEO of GalChimia, Carme has demonstrated not only her passion for chemistry but her business acumen to make of GalChimia a reference CRO for the pharmaceutical industry in Spain.
Carme co-founded GalChimia with Jacobo Cruces back in 2001, encouraged by two professors at the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. Since then, the company has evolved with the needs of the pharmaceutical industry, providing expertise and advice in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry. Carme’s interest for the promotion and development of the industrial sector in Galicia, particularly that related to biotechnology, led to the creation in 2010 of the Life Sciences Technological Business Cluster in Galicia (Bioga), of which she has since been the President. As such, Carme has further created two biotech spin-offs together with Jacobo Cruces. She also participates in the mentoring program of the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, as well as being an advocate for women in science and business.
